St. Marys falls to Lambton Shores in overtime, 6-5 (OT)

The Lambton Shores Predators pulled out a 6-5 (OT) overtime victory over the St. Marys Lincolns on a clutch goal by Brenden Trottier.

Lambton Shores nearly gave up a two-score lead. The Predators made it 5-3 on a goal by Franco Sproviero at 1:14 in the third period. St. Marys got to within 5-4 on a goal by Trent Dundas at 5:00 in the third period.

Lambton Shores got the win on the strength of a great game by Trottier, who had two goals and two assists. Trottier scored the first of his two goals at 8:10 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Marcel Berube assisted on the tally. Trottier's next tally made the score 6-5 Lambton Shores with 18:37 left in. Ethan Sarfati picked up the assist.

The Predators forced the Lincolns' goalies to work all game long, getting 40 shots and forcing 34 saves. Paul Town made 32 stops and Ryan Langford made two. Lambton Shores stifled St. Marys' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Predators outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Lambton Shores averages 3.3 goals per contest. The Predators got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Lambton Shores additionally got points from Sproviero, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Berube, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Lambton Shores also had goals scored by Calvin Hughson and Colin Burns, who each put in one. In addition, Lambton Shores received assists from Ryan Fraser, who had one and Andrew Kim and Sean Ross, who each chipped in two.

The Lincolns forced Predators' goaltenders to work in net, racking up 41 shots and forcing 36 saves. Anthony Hurtubise made 24 stops and Tyler Caruana made 12. St. Marys' goal total was higher than its season average. The Lincolns have scored at the pace of 2.8 goals per game during the current campaign.

St. Marys was led by Jeff Schrattner, who registered two goals. Schrattner scored the first of his two goals at 9:28 into the first period to make the score 2-1 St. Marys. Nolan King provided the assist. Schrattner's next tally made the score 3-1 St. Marys with 4:42 left in the first period. King picked up the assist. St. Marys also got points from Brent House, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. St. Marys also got a goal from Phillip Buque as well. Other players who recorded assists for St. Marys were Matthew Philip, Tom McHenry, Brennan Stapleton, and Brandon Glover, who contributed one each.

Lambton Shores incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Lincolns incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
