Huge game by Broomhead boosts Stratford over Cambridge, 12-4

Behind a great game by Hayden Broomhead, who had two goals and three assists, the Stratford Cullitons defeated the Cambridge Winter Hawks, 12-4.

Broomhead scored on the power play at 12:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stratford and again while 15:29 into the third to make the score 12-4 Stratford.

Stratford forced Cambridge's goalies to work between the pipes, finishing with 35 shots and forcing 23 saves. Lukas Samson made 18 stops and Ethan Sellick made five. The Cullitons bested their season scoring average. Stratford averages 5.1 goals per game. The Cullitons was effective with a man advantage, and put in three goals while on the power play. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals. Stratford struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 26 penalty minutes for eight opposing power plays.

Stratford also got points from Joe Leahy, who also tallied one goal and three assists, Deven Kropf, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Jared Nash, who also had two goals and three assists, and Josh Higgins, who also registered one goal and one assist. Stratford also had goals scored by Josh Miller, who had two and Jack Scanlan, Dylan Lebold, and Justin Graham, who each put in one. In addition, Stratford received assists from Tyson Baker, who had four, Zach Van Louwe, Drew Gross, and Carson Poulin, who each chipped in one, and Aaron Jacobs and Tanner Hertel, who contributed two each.

Poulin rejected 22 shots on goal for the Cullitons. The Winter Hawks incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
