Brampton completes comeback, beats Elmira, 6-5

The Elmira Sugar Kings could not hold down the Brampton Bombers, and Bombers erased a two-goal deficit en route to a 6-5 win.

Brampton let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Bombers took a 1-0 advantage on a power play goal by Ramon Lopez at 19:48 in the first period. Brampton went down 5-3 after Elmira's Ty Jackson put the puck home at 7:10 in the third period. After knotting things up at 5-5 on a goal by Christian Mariconda at 12:43 in the third, the Bombers got the game-winner from Yianni Liarakos at 18:25 in the third period.

Liarakos had one goal and three assists to lead Brampton.

The Bombers' goal total was higher than their season average. Brampton averages 2.4 goals per game. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. The Bombers found themselves short handed often, totaling 34 penalty minutes and allowing six power plays.

Brampton additionally got points from Brad Bollert, who also had one goal and two assists. Brampton also got a goal from Jordan Oshowy as well. More assists for Brampton came via Joseph Spina, who had two and Tayler Woolcott, Adel Zivojevic, Chris Arsenault, Jordan Kreller, and Mitch Shennette, who each chipped in one.

Brampton was unable to stop the Sugar Kings from sending pucks towards the net, and Elmira eventually piled up 42 shots on goal.

The Sugar Kings were led by Jeff Jordan, who registered two goals. Jordan scored the first of his two goals at 7:49 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Ethan Skinner provided the assist. Jordan's next tally made the score 3-2 Elmira with 18:17 left in the third period. Harlen VanWynsberghe picked up the assist. Elmira also got points from Zac Coulter, who also tallied one goal and one assist. David Elford also scored for Elmira. In addition, Elmira received assists from Jake Moggy, Ryan Walsh, and Mackenzie MacSorley, who contributed one each.

Jason Rhynold made 37 saves for the Bombers on 42 shots. Brampton registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Liam Conway rejected 21 shots on goal for Elmira. The Sugar Kings incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
