The Welland Jr. Canadians and the St. Catharines Falcons skate to 1-1 (OT) tie

Welland found itself down againt St. Catharines, but battled back to secure to a tie.

The Jr. Canadians stifled the Falcons' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Welland was led by Tyler Stranges, who scored the team's only goal. Stranges scored 15:11 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Derrick Low picked up the assist.

St. Catharines' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Welland power plays. The Falcons were held below their usual level of production. St. Catharines averages 4.5 goals per game. The Jr. Canadians were unable to stop the Falcons from sending pucks towards the net, and St. Catharines eventually piled up 50 shots on goal. The Falcons could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 44 minutes in penalties during the game.

St. Catharines was led by Tyler Jackson, who scored the team's only goal. Jackson scored 8:44 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Catharines. Mitchell Webb assisted on the tally.

Brandon McCorriston made 49 saves for Welland on 50 shots. The Jr. Canadians incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For Welland, Nicholas Boehmer was ejected from the game. Joel Horodziejczyk recorded 19 saves for the Falcons. St. Catharines registered zero goals on three power play opportunities.
