Huge game by Huber boosts Listowel over Guelph, 8-1

The Listowel Cyclones' Jamie Huber had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 8-1 win over the Guelph Hurricanes.

Huber scored at 7:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Listowel and again while 19:30 into the first to make the score 3-1 Listowel.

Guelph was stymied by Listowel's netminder Tyler Fassl, who stopped 31 shots during the victory. Fassl certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.27 entering the contest.

The Cyclones forced Hurricanes' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, launching 37 shots and forcing 29 saves. Jason DaSilva made 22 stops and Christian Propp made seven. Listowel found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Cyclones average 4.1 goals per contest. Listowel cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring four goals on seven chances. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Listowel also got points from Brady Anderson, who also finished with two goals and one assist, Kade Landry, who also grabbed two goals and two assists, and Ben Shelley, who also had one goal and one assist. Listowel also got a goal from Ray McFalls as well. In addition, Listowel received assists from Keaton Willis, Blake Pickering, Blake Nichol, Corey Flemington, Tim Nauta, Austin Huizenga, Jordan Caskenette, Holdyn Lansink, and Chayse Herrfort, who each chipped in one.

The Hurricanes were held below their usual level of production. Guelph averages 3.5 goals per game. The Hurricanes' offense rang up 32 shots on the Cyclones' net. Guelph was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 26 penalty minutes.

The Hurricanes were led by Lucas Dybowski, who scored the team's only goal. Dybowski scored on the power play 11:20 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Guelph had taken the advantage when Listowel's Caleb Warren got sent off for tripping. Ryan Burns picked up the assist.

The Cyclones ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. Listowel ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nauta was ejected from the game. The Hurricanes registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
