Listowel wins tough contest against Waterloo, 3-2

The Listowel Cyclones and the Waterloo Siskins were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Listowel made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Jamie Huber secured the win for the Cyclones with a goal in the second period.

Listowel was led by Caleb Warren, who registered one goal. Warren scored 17:13 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Listowel. Blake Pickering assisted on the tally.

Listowel additionally got points from Huber, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Tim Nauta also scored for Listowel. In addition, Listowel received assists from Brady Anderson, who had two and Holdyn Lansink and Chayse Herrfort, who each chipped in one.

The Cyclones were unable to stop Waterloo from sending pucks towards the net, and the Siskins eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. Waterloo could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Siskins were helped by Nate Schnarr, who had one goal. Schnarr scored on the power play 19:04 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Listowel. Waterloo had gotten the advantage when Listowel's Garrett James was sent off for hooking. Mitchell Rooney provided the assist. Waterloo also got a goal from Joshua Slegers as well. Other players who recorded assists for Waterloo were Graham Evans, Brett Wilson, and Owen Kipke, who contributed one each.

The Cyclones' Tyler Fassl stopped 30 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Listowel incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Mitchell Datz rejected 24 shots on goal for the Siskins. Waterloo registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
