Ancaster downs Thorold in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

Zach Jackson gave the Ancaster Avalanche a 5-4 (OT) victory over the Thorold Blackhawks when he scored 3:44 into the extra period.

Although Ancaster was up by as many as two goals in the third period, Thorold kept the game interesting by staging a comeback that ultimately fell short. The Blackhawks got to within 4-3 on a goal by Jake Lloyd at 10:44 in the third period.

Jackson had two goals to lead the Avalanche to victory.

Ancaster's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Thorold power plays. The Avalanche could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Ancaster also got points from Ben Hughes, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Fedor Gordeev, who also registered one goal and one assist. Noah Matteson also scored for Ancaster. In addition, Ancaster received assists from Ryan Knill, who had two and Donato Cipriano, Lucas Pozzobon, Cole Nagy, Matt Mannella, and Owen Burnell, who contributed one each.

Thorold excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Blackhawks kept Ancaster's goalie busy throughout the game, and Cole Ceci made 31 saves on 35 shots. Thorold's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in four goals. The Blackhawks could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

Thorold was helped by Cal Davis, who finished with one goal. Davis scored 19 seconds into the third period to make the score 3-2 Ancaster. Anton Trublin provided the assist. Thorold additionally got points from Tyler Sehovic, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Thorold also got a goal from David D`Agostino as well. More assists for Thorold came via Mitchell Mendonca, who had three and Brendan Dagostino, Patrick McCabe, and Cosimo Amore, who each chipped in one.

Fraser Kirk made 25 saves for the Blackhawks on 30 shots.
