Stratford survives Elmira comeback, wins 6-4Allman Arena Fri, Oct 16, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Stratford Cullitons, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by the Elmira Sugar Kings and clinched a 6-4 victory. Stratford led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Cullitons' Justin Graham scored at 2:23 in the third period to put Stratford up 5-2. Jared Nash had one goal and two assists to lead the Cullitons. Nash scored 6:16 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Stratford. Tyson Baker picked up the assist. Stratford forced Sugar Kings' netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, taking 33 shots and forcing 27 saves. Liam Conway made 20 stops and Mike Black made seven. The Cullitons put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Elmira to score on any of its three power plays. Stratford additionally got points from Hayden Broomhead, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Graham, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Stratford also had goals scored by Deven Kropf, Quinton Haddock, and Zach Van Louwe, who each put in one. More assists for Stratford came via Josh Miller, who had two and Dylan Lebold and Tanner Hertel, who each chipped in one. The Sugar Kings' offense rang up 34 shots on Stratford's net. Elmira was led by Zac Coulter, who registered three goals. Elmira also got points from Kyle Soper, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, Elmira received assists from Harlen VanWynsberghe, who had one and Ethan Skinner and Jeff Jordan, who each chipped in two. Nick Redman made 30 saves for the Cullitons on 34 shots. Stratford incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Sugar Kings incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
