Brampton falls apart in second, loses to Kitchener, 5-1

The Brampton Bombers allowed the Kitchener Dutchmen to net three goals during the second period and fell, 5-1.

Logan Schmidt was all over the ice for Kitchener, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Schmidt scored on the power play 30 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-0 Kitchener. Adam Kawalec provided the assist.

Brampton was stymied by the Dutchmen's netminder Luke Richardson, who stopped 26 shots during the victory. The solid play of Richardson will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 1.78.

The defensemen of Kitchener were also effective in the Bombers' zone, and came away with two goals.

Kitchener additionally got points from Nathan Grossi, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Kawalec, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Kitchener included Matthew Cruickshank and Alex Demrovsky, who each put in one. More assists for Kitchener came via Jeremy Kuehn, who had two and Owen Lane and Connor Cole, who contributed one each.

The Dutchmen incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Brampton's starting goalie, Jason Rhynold, made 14 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Sam Procopio, who stopped seven shots. The Bombers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
