Chatham beats St. Marys 7-0 as Butler gains shutout

Parker Butler recorded a shutout against the St. Marys Lincolns as the Chatham Maroons picked up a 7-0 win.

Chatham's penalty kill excelled, as the Maroons gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

Chatham forced St. Marys' netminders to work without much rest, taking 50 shots and forcing 43 saves. Ryan Langford made 31 stops and Paul Town made 12. The Maroons stifled the Lincolns' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Chatham surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Maroons have scored at the pace of 3.9 goals per game during the current campaign.

Chatham was helped by Teddy McGeen, who grabbed one goal. McGeen scored short handed 13:37 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Chatham. The Maroons were on a disadvantage when Luc Knight went off the ice for cross checking. Chatham additionally got points from Josh Barraclough, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Gus Ford, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Ian Faubert, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Chatham included Brayden Hopkins, Ross Krieger, and Michael Levesque, who scored one goal each. More assists for Chatham came via Austin Thompson, who had two and Jordan Winter, Connor Koviak, Logan Percy, and Steven Beenackers, who each chipped in one.

St. Marys did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Lincolns put an average of 2.7 pucks into the net per game. St. Marys' offense rang up 42 shots on Chatham's net.

The Maroons' Butler stopped 42 shots out of the 42 that he faced. Chatham totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 2-for-2 on the power play. Team's Percy and Hunter Burk were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. The Lincolns ended with 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors. For St. Marys, Mike Tuffin and Dan Heelis were ejected from the contest.
