Huge game by Herrfort boosts Listowel over Guelph, 7-0

The Listowel Cyclones' Chayse Herrfort had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 7-0 win over the Guelph Hurricanes.

Herrfort scored at 10:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Listowel and again while 19:19 into the first to make the score 2-0 Listowel.

Listowel put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Guelph to score on any of its five power plays. The Cyclones' offense rang up 40 shots on the Hurricanes' net. Listowel bested its season scoring average. The Cyclones average 3.9 goals per game. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Listowel was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 46 penalty minutes.

Listowel also got points from Holdyn Lansink, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Jamie Huber, who also registered one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Listowel included Keaton Willis, Ray McFalls, and Blake Nichol, who each put in one. In addition, Listowel received assists from Ben Shelley, who had two, Blake Pickering, who had three, and Kade Landry, Caleb Warren, and Austin Huizenga, who contributed one each.

Guelph was held below its usual level of production. The Hurricanes put an average of 3.7 pucks into the net per game.

Wyatt Nicholson recorded 20 saves for the Cyclones. Listowel registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. Guelph's Jason DaSilva stopped 33 shots out of the 40 that he faced. The Hurricanes ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major. Guelph ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Cameron Palmer was ejected from the game.
