Skinner leads Elmira over Listowel, 8-1

Ethan Skinner was all over the ice for the Elmira Sugar Kings, as he tallied two goals and two assists in Elmira's 8-1 win over the Listowel Cyclones.

Skinner scored at 2:05 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Elmira and again while 12:40 into the second to make the score 3-0 Elmira.

The Sugar Kings were led by goalie Mike Black, who finished with 27 saves while allowing one goal. Black certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.81 entering the contest.

Listowel fell victim to a deadly Elmira power play, which ripped the Cyclones for five goals.

The Sugar Kings surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Elmira averages 3.8 goals per contest. The Sugar Kings' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Elmira also got points from Rob Kohli, who also had one goal and three assists, Zac Coulter, who also finished with three goals and two assists to lead the team in points, and Ryan Walsh, who also registered one goal and one assist. Elmira also got a goal from Alex Peterson as well. In addition, Elmira received assists from Jeff Jordan, who had two and Mitch Montgomery, Jake Moggy, and Ryan Maksymyk, who contributed one each.

Listowel's offense operated below its season average. The Cyclones average 3.9 goals per game.

Listowel was led by Brady Anderson, who scored the team's only goal. Anderson scored on the power play 7:58 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Elmira. Keaton Willis assisted on the tally.

Elmira incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Wyatt Nicholson made 21 saves for the Cyclones on 29 shots. Listowel incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
