Fort Erie survives Thorold comeback, wins 6-4

The Thorold Blackhawks tried to dig themselves out of a four-goal hole, but the Fort Erie Meteors held on for a 6-4 victory.

A goal by Holden Garlent put Fort Erie up 6-2 in the third period, but Thorold pulled to within two on Patrick McCabe's tally 16:25 into the third period.

Danial Singer had one goal and two assists to lead the Meteors. Singer scored on the power play 2:36 into the second period to make the score 5-2 Fort Erie. Fort Erie had gained a power play chance when Greg Christmas was whistled for high sticking. Darien Kielb assisted on the tally.

The Blackhawks were unable to stop the Meteors from sending pucks towards the net, and Fort Erie eventually piled up 33 shots on goal. The Meteors surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Fort Erie averages 3.0 goals per contest.

Fort Erie also got points from Alex Hurran, who also registered one goal and one assist and Declan Conway`, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Fort Erie also got a goal from Colin Farrell as well. More assists for Fort Erie came via Bryce Martin, who had two and Mackenzie Passero, Ben Evans, Zach Stamates, and Daniel Volpatti, who contributed one each.

Thorold's offense rang up 37 shots on the Meteors' net. The Blackhawks' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Thorold was helped by Nick Sacco, who grabbed one goal. Sacco scored 2:41 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Thorold. Anthony Merante picked up the assist. Thorold additionally got points from Tyler Sehovic, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Cal Davis, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Thorold were Aaron Nunes and David Dagostino, who each chipped in one.

Riley Daniels made 33 saves for Fort Erie on 37 shots. The Meteors incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Fraser Kirk recorded 27 saves for the Blackhawks. Thorold incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
