Elmira squeaks by Brantford, 4-2

The Elmira Sugar Kings and the Brantford 99ers were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Elmira made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

The Sugar Kings gained the winning advantage on a goal by Rob Kohli 7:22 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Ethan Skinner had one goal and two assists to lead Elmira. Skinner scored 19:34 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Elmira.

The Sugar Kings put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Brantford to score on any of its three power plays.

Elmira additionally got points from Alex Uttley, who also registered one goal and one assist. Quinten Bruce also scored for Elmira. More assists for Elmira came via Ryley Cribbin, who had one.

The 99ers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Elmira power plays. Brantford forced Elmira goalie Liam Conway to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

The 99ers were helped by Ryon Pereira, who racked up one goal. Pereira scored 4:44 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Brantford. Isaac Nurse provided the assist. Brantford also got a goal from Kyle Walker as well. Other players who recorded assists for Brantford were Christian Polillo, Guy Polillo, and Brett Parsons, who each chipped in one.

Conway rejected 30 shots on goal for the Sugar Kings. Elmira incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Will Rawski recorded 24 saves for Brantford. The 99ers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
