Caledonia survives penalties, beats Niagara Falls, 4-0

The Niagara Falls Canucks failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Caledonia Corvairs shook off a number of penalties to win, 4-0.

Caledonia was led by Mackenzie MacSorley, who finished with one goal. MacSorley scored on the power play 9:10 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Caledonia. The Corvairs had gotten the advantage when Niagara Falls' Jeffrey Venzon was sent off for tripping. Blake Luscombe provided the assist.

Caledonia excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Corvairs kept the Canucks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Joseph Murdaca made 35 saves on 39 shots.

Caledonia also got points from Matthew Hore, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Caledonia also got a goal from Jake Brown as well. In addition, Caledonia received assists from Austin Brown, who had two and Corey Pawley, who had three.

Niagara Falls did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Canucks put an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game.

Mark Sinclair rejected 21 shots on goal for Caledonia. The Corvairs incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Niagara Falls incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
