Jonathon Buttitta had two goals and three assists to lead the M1 Kent State University Golden Flashes to a 9-2 victory over the M1 John Carroll University Blue Streaks.

Buttitta found the back of the net 18:02 into the first period to make the score 3-1 M1 Kent State University and again while 1:45 into the second to make the score 4-1 M1 Kent State University.

M1 Kent State University forced Blue Streaks' goaltenders to work between the pipes, racking up 48 shots and forcing 39 saves. Dustin Stevens made 27 stops and Matthew Russell made 12. The Golden Flashes put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow M1 John Carroll University to score on any of its four power plays.
