M1 Ohio University vanquishes M1 Iowa State University in shootout, 1-0 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the M1 Ohio University Bobcats defeated the M1 Iowa State University Cyclones in a shootout 1-0 (1-0 SO).

The shootout featured six attempts between both teams.

Aaron Alkema frustrated M1 Iowa State University's offense all game, and stopped 25 shots en route to a shutout. Alkema certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 0.98 entering the contest.

M1 Ohio University excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Bobcats' offense operated below their season average. M1 Ohio University averages 6.6 goals per game. With 35 shots on target during the contest, the Bobcats exceeded the 4.6 shots they average per game this year.

The Cyclones' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three M1 Ohio University power plays. M1 Iowa State University did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Cyclones put an average of 6.0 pucks into the net per game.

M1 Ohio University incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Matt Goedeke rejected 34 shots on goal for M1 Iowa State University. The Cyclones incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
