Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the M1 Ohio University Bobcats defeated the M1 Iowa State University Cyclones in a shootout 1-0 (1-0 SO).

Aaron Alkema frustrated M1 Iowa State University's offense all game, and stopped 25 shots en route to a shutout. Alkema certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 0.98 entering the contest.

M1 Ohio University excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Bobcats' offense operated below their season average. M1 Ohio University averages 6.6 goals per game.
