M1 Ohio University survives M1 Iowa State University comeback, wins 5-4

The M1 Iowa State University Cyclones tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the M1 Ohio University Bobcats would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-4.

M1 Ohio University made the score 5-3 on a goal by Mike LaFrenier at 15:45 in the third period, and M1 Iowa State University got as close as 5-4 when Jonathan Severson scored 19:31 into the third period.

In the losing effort, the Cyclones were sparked by Tony Uglem, who had two goals and one assist. Uglem scored the first of his two goals at 8:41 into the second period to make the score 2-1 M1 Ohio University. Aaron Azevedo picked up the assist. Uglem's next tally made the score 4-3 M1 Ohio University with 5:34 left in the third period. A cross checking call on Zack Johnson put M1 Iowa State University on the penalty kill.

The Bobcats' normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. M1 Ohio University averages 1.0 goal allowed per game. The Bobcats put 35 shots on net during the contest, more than the 4.8 they average per game.

Others who scored for M1 Ohio University included Derek Rahme, Drew Crandall, Cody Black, and Matthew Rudin, who scored one goal each. In addition, M1 Ohio University received assists from Jake Faiella, who had two and Tyler Pecka, Grant Hazel, Trent Johnson, Michael Harris, and Joey Breslin, who contributed one each.

M1 Ohio University was unable to stop the Cyclones from sending pucks towards the net, and M1 Iowa State University eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. The Cyclones' defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. M1 Iowa State University gives up 1.9 goal per game.

M1 Iowa State University also got points from Jake Uglem, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for M1 Iowa State University came via Eero Helanto, who had one and Colton Kramer, who had two.

Aaron Alkema made 35 saves for the Bobcats on 39 shots. M1 Ohio University incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Matt Goedeke recorded 30 saves for the Cyclones. M1 Iowa State University incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
