M1 Midland University beats M2 Waldorf College 5-4 after comeback scare

M1 Midland University survived a determined comeback attempt by M2 Waldorf College on the way to a 5-4 win.

M1 Midland University made the score 5-1 on a goal by Connor Hyde at 16:47 in the second period, and M2 Waldorf College got as close as 5-4 when Robert Danyo scored 15:44 into the third period.

Jason Henry had a great game for M1 Midland University, netting two goals. Henry scored at 2:04 into the first period to make the score 1-0 M1 Midland University and again while 9:36 into the first to make the score 2-0 M1 Midland University.

M1 Midland University's defense was uncharacteristically lax during the game. M1 Midland University gives up 1.8 goal per game. M1 Midland University's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as M1 Midland University finished with 26 penalty minutes.

M1 Midland University also had goals scored by Blair Seitz and Zach Voss, who each put in one. In addition, M1 Midland University received assists from Bradley Hepler, Ben Henry, Taylor McConnell, Evan Anderson, Jarret Walt, and Sam Zwiener, who contributed one each and Sam Turner and Blake Neumann, who each chipped in two.

M2 Waldorf College's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three M1 Midland University power plays. By firing 38 shots on goal, M2 Waldorf College exceeded the 13.3 shots it averages per game this year.

M2 Waldorf College also got points from Artem Savelyev, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for M2 Waldorf College included Spencer Johnson and Ryan James Veillet, who scored one goal each. More assists for M2 Waldorf College came via Travis Park, who had two and Alex Fleming, Reed Loucks, and Drew Soderberg, who contributed one each.

Jarin Aden rejected 34 shots on goal for M1 Midland University. For M1 Midland University, Jarrett Stark was ejected from the game. Ronald Paulson made 10 saves before being replaced by Nicholas Carroll, who took the loss and made nine saves. M2 Waldorf College incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
