M1 Naval Academy ^ United States uses shootout to best M1 Syracuse University, 2-1 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the M1 Naval Academy ^ United States Midshipmen defeated the M1 Syracuse University Orange in a shootout 2-1 (2-1 SO).

The shootout featured 10 attempts between both teams. M1 Syracuse University's shootout goal was scored by Thomas DiPasquale. M1 Naval Academy ^ United States also got a shootout goal from Trent Lulow.

The Midshipmen's penalty kill excelled, as M1 Naval Academy ^ United States gave up zero goals despite allowing 12 power plays.

The Midshipmen stifled the Orange's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. M1 Naval Academy ^ United States could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Midshipmen were led by Alexander Vandenberg, who had one goal. Vandenberg scored on the power play 5:07 into the first period to make the score 1-0 M1 Naval Academy ^ United States. A tripping penalty on Mackenzie Connor had put M1 Naval Academy ^ United States on the power play. Jack O Hear provided the assist. In addition, M1 Naval Academy ^ United States received assists from Matthew Harrigan, who had one.

M1 Syracuse University was led by Nolan Metzler, who scored the team's only goal. Metzler scored 14:46 into the first period to make the score 1-1. DiPasquale picked up the assist.

Matthew Truninger made 23 saves for the Midshipmen on 24 shots. M1 Naval Academy ^ United States registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Jaime Ketchabaw recorded 25 saves for the Orange. M1 Syracuse University incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
