Port Hope takes care of Campbellford early, wins 6-1

A four-goal first period deficit cost the Campbellford Rebels, which could not recover and fell to the Port Hope Panthers, 6-1.

Dan Lagrois was all over the ice for Port Hope, as he had four goals in the win. Lagrois' first goal came 8:18 into the first period. He then added goals at 12:31 into the first, at six seconds into the third, and at 59 seconds into the third.

The Panthers forced Campbellford's goaltenders to work all game long, finishing with 44 shots and forcing 38 saves. Tyler Freemen made 29 stops and Fregonas Eric made nine. Port Hope cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring three goals on five chances.

Others who scored for Port Hope included Jack Vautour and Shawn Mackie, who scored one goal each. More assists for Port Hope came via Cameron McGill, who had two, Blane Gaudon, who had three, and Dalton Lawrence and Evan Wasylyk, who each chipped in one.

The Rebels could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 56 minutes in penalties during the game.

Campbellford was led by Jeremiah Doherty, who scored the team's only goal. Doherty scored 18:46 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Port Hope. Brenan Rylott assisted on the tally.

Sheldon Calbury made 20 saves for the Panthers on 21 shots. Port Hope incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Rebels registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
