Trotter's hat trick boosts Campbellford over Gananoque, 5-2

Jacob Trotter lifted the Campbellford Rebels to a 5-2 victory with a hat trick against the Gananoque Islanders.

Trotter's first goal came 5:14 into the first period. He then added goals at 16:08 into the second and at 18:03 into the third.

Campbellford's penalty kill excelled, as the Rebels gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Campbellford kept Gananoque's goalie busy throughout the game, and Quinn Cota made 31 saves on 36 shots. The Rebels surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Campbellford has scored at the pace of 2.6 goals per game during the current campaign. The Rebels could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game.

Others who scored for Campbellford included Julian Nick APM and Graiden Maynard, who scored one goal each. In addition, Campbellford received assists from Jeremiah Doherty, who had two and Travis Bennett, Karm Dart, Connor Petherick, and Alex Buchanan, who each chipped in one.

Campbellford was unable to stop the Islanders from sending pucks towards the net, and Gananoque eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

The Islanders were helped by David Leung, who registered one goal. Leung scored on the power play 12:33 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Gananoque had gotten the advantage when the Rebels' Perry Ethan was sent off for slashing. Sam Wilson assisted on the tally. Gananoque additionally got points from Wilson, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Gananoque were Nic Stafford, who had one.

Campbellford's Cole Mahoney stopped 30 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Rebels registered one goal on three power play opportunities. The Islanders incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
