Port Hope erases deficit to stun Picton, 4-3Prince Edward Thu, Dec 17, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Picton Pirates could not hold down the Port Hope Panthers, and Panthers erased a two-goal deficit en route to a 4-3 win. Port Hope let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Panthers took a 1-0 advantage on a goal by Mike Smith at 6:23 in the first period. Port Hope went down 3-1 after Picton's Mitch Burke put the puck home at 19:59 in the second period. After evening things up at 3-3 on a goal by Shawn Mackie at 2:21 in the third, the Panthers got the game-winner from Dan Lagrois at 13:22 in the third period. Port Hope was sparked by Lagrois, who grabbed one goal. The Panthers forced the Pirates' goaltenders to work all game long, finishing with 50 shots and forcing 46 saves. Charles Grimard made 44 stops and Dustin Myskiw made two. Port Hope additionally got points from Dalton Lawrence, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Smith, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Port Hope received assists from Cameron Lowery, who had two and Matthew Hunt, Cameron McGill, Jon Campbell, and Evan Foley, who contributed one each. Others who scored for Picton included James Pero and Mitchell Merry, who each put in one. More assists for Picton came via Devin McCann, Liam Hunter, Nick Devito, and Nolan Van Vlack, who each chipped in one. Aaron Young recorded 16 saves for Port Hope. The Panthers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Picton incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
