Port Hope survives Picton comeback, wins 5-3Prince Edward Thu, Nov 26, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Port Hope Panthers survived a determined comeback attempt by the Picton Pirates on the way to a 5-3 win. A goal by Phil Koufis put Port Hope up 5-2 in the second period, but Picton pulled to within two on TJ Patterson's tally 12:02 into the third period. Koufis was all over the ice for the Panthers, as he had two goals in the win. Port Hope stifled the Pirates' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Panthers' offense rang up 40 shots on Picton's net. Port Hope also got points from Cameron McGill, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Dan Lagrois, who also registered one goal and one assist. Port Hope also got a goal from Cameron Lowery as well. In addition, Port Hope received assists from Jon Campbell, Dalton Lawrence, Evan Foley, and Keegan Ferguson, who each chipped in one. The Pirates' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Port Hope power plays. Picton could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game. The Pirates were led by Mitchell Merry, who registered one goal and one assist. Merry scored 8:10 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Picton. Mitch Thompson picked up the assist. Picton additionally got points from Patterson, who also had one goal and one assist. Devin McCann also scored for Picton. More assists for Picton came via Trey Maracle, who had one. Sheldon Calbury recorded 24 saves for Port Hope. The Panthers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Charles Grimard made 35 saves for Picton on 40 shots. The Pirates registered zero goals on three power play opportunities.
