Picton outlasts Napanee, 3-2Strathcona Paper Tue, Oct 20, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Picton Pirates escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Napanee Raiders. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Nolan Van Vlack's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Devin McCann had two goals to lead Picton to victory. McCann's tallies came at 6:15 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Picton and on the power play 19:42 into the third to make the score 4-2 Picton. The Pirates' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Napanee power plays. Picton's offense rang up 31 shots on Napanee's net. Picton also got a goal from Gerald Bilker as well. Other players who recorded assists for Picton were James Pero, Tristan Nugent, Matthew Panetta, Liam Hunter, and Tye Eaton, who each chipped in one. The Raiders could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Napanee puts an average of 4.7 pucks into the net per game. The Raiders were helped by Aidan McFarland, who finished with one goal. McFarland scored 12:44 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Austin Boulard provided the assist. Brandon Major also scored for Napanee. In addition, Napanee received assists from Nicolas Schuler and Chris Rogalsky, who contributed one each. The Pirates' Brock Tufts stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Picton incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Tomo Mikuljan rejected 28 shots on goal for Napanee. The Raiders incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Napanee ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and McFarland was ejected from the game.
