Yake leads Amherstview over Picton, 7-3

Brett Yake had two goals and one assist to lead the Amherstview Jets to a 7-3 victory over the Picton Pirates.

Yake scored at 17 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Amherstview and again while 10:15 into the third to make the score 4-3 Amherstview.

Amherstview forced Pirates' goaltenders to work between the pipes, totaling 32 shots and forcing 25 saves. Dustin Myskiw made 19 stops and Dryden Bedard - AP made six.

Amherstview additionally got points from Dawson Chard, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Amherstview included Zach Maciel, who had two and Joey Mayer and Cosimo Morin, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Amherstview were Konner Burtenshaw, Mike McKitrick, Perry Tristan, Wyatt Crampton, and Cody Smith, who each chipped in one and Jordan Howe, Adam Kim, and Brett Maracle, who contributed two each.

Picton put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Jets to score on any of their three power plays. The Pirates kept Amherstview's goalie busy throughout the game, and Ryan Kaszuba made 29 saves on 32 shots.

Picton was led by Trey Maracle, who finished with one goal and one assist. Maracle scored 17:02 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Will Harrison picked up the assist. Picton also had goals scored by Tristan Nugent and Mitchell Merry, who scored one goal each. In addition, Picton received assists from Devin McCann and Gerald Bilker, who each chipped in one.

The Jets incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Pirates incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
