Port Hope shrugs off penalties, upends Picton, 3-0Empire Jr. C Sat, Sep 26, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Despite having to fight off several power plays, the Port Hope Panthers were able to defeat the Picton Pirates, 3-0. Port Hope was paced by Hunter Baker, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Baker scored 2:49 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Port Hope. Cameron McGill picked up the assist. The Panthers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in 10 chances. Port Hope's offense operated below its season average. The Panthers average 5.1 goals per game. Picton was unable to stop Port Hope from sending pucks towards the net, and the Panthers eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. Port Hope also got points from Dalton Lawrence, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Shawn Mackie also scored for Port Hope. Other players who recorded assists for Port Hope were Jon Campbell, Evan Wasylyk, and Stavros Soilis, who each chipped in one. The Pirates struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 30 penalty minutes for eight opposing power plays.
