St. Andrews College survives Ridley College comeback, wins 5-4

The St. Andrews College Saints came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Ridley College Tigers, but did just enough to escape with a 5-4 victory.

St. Andrews College led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Saints' Lucas Thorne scored at 18:46 in the first period to put St. Andrews College up 3-0.

The Saints got the win behind a great game by Reid Yochim, who had one goal and two assists. Yochim scored on the power play 9:46 into the first period to make the score 2-0 St. Andrews College. Otto Saarimaa picked up the assist.

In a losing effort, Ridley College was sparked by Andrew McIntyre, who had two goals. McIntyre scored the first of his two goals at 14 seconds into the second period to make the score 3-1 St. Andrews College. McIntyre's next tally made the score 3-2 St. Andrews College with 12:20 left in the second period. Cameron Beaudry provided the assist.

St. Andrews College's offense rang up 39 shots on the Tigers' net. The Saints' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

St. Andrews College additionally got points from Saarimaa, who also registered one goal and two assists. Others who scored for St. Andrews College included William Sirman and Morgan Barron, who scored one goal each. In addition, St. Andrews College received assists from Connor Ali, Cam Hillis, and Ryan OConnell, who each chipped in one.

Ridley College also got a goal from Ryan Mahshie as well. More assists for Ridley College came via Carson Edwardson, Adam Difruscia, and Adam Pys, who contributed one each.

Cole Chapman made 16 saves for St. Andrews College on 20 shots. The Saints ended with no penalties and went 2-for-0 on the power play. Chris McGonigle recorded 34 saves for Ridley College. The Tigers avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored one goal off of zero power plays.
