St. Andrews College wins tough contest against Appleby College, 4-3

The game between the St. Andrews College Saints and the Appleby College Blue Dogs was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end St. Andrews College emerged with a 4-3 win.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Corey Andonovski's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

The Saints' penalty kill excelled, as St. Andrews College gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays.

The Saints were led by Andonovski, who grabbed one goal. Andonovski scored 9:39 into the third period to make the score 4-3 St. Andrews College. Jacob Miller picked up the assist.

St. Andrews College stifled Appleby College's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Saints' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as St. Andrews College finished with 26 penalty minutes.

Others who scored for St. Andrews College included William Sirman, Kody Clark, and Regan Kimens, who scored one goal each. In addition, St. Andrews College received assists from Lucas Thorne, Otto Saarimaa, Mitchell Martan, Reid Yochim, and Morgan Barron, who each chipped in one.

The Saints' defense shut down the Blue Dogs' forwards for much of the game, and Appleby College got off only 10 shots during the contest. The Blue Dogs got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game.

Appleby College was led by Adam Scholz, who tallied two goals and one assist. Scholz scored the first of his two goals at 17:01 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Patrick Vulgan assisted on the tally. Scholz's next tally made the score 3-3 with 18:28 left in the third period. Will Graham picked up the assist. Conor MacIntyre also scored for Appleby College. More assists for Appleby College came via Jacob Gower, who had one and Callum Jones, who had two.

Cole Chapman made seven saves for St. Andrews College on 10 shots. The Saints registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Nicolas Solari rejected 24 shots on goal for the Blue Dogs. Appleby College incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
