M1 Oakland University rips M1 Syracuse University, 5-2

The M1 Syracuse University Orange had trouble finding ways to stop the M1 Oakland University Golden Grizzlies, which beat Orange, 5-2.

M1 Oakland University was led by Kyle Nelson, who registered one goal and one assist. Nelson scored 8:08 into the first period to make the score 1-0 M1 Oakland University. Tom Kilgore provided the assist.

The Golden Grizzlies forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 11 minors and one major for 37 minutes in penalty time. M1 Oakland University surpassed its season average of 21.0 penalty minutes per game. The Golden Grizzlies forced M1 Syracuse University goalie Jaime Ketchabaw to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. M1 Oakland University surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Golden Grizzlies average 2.6 goals per game. The defensemen of M1 Oakland University were also effective in the Orange's zone, and came away with two goals.
