M1 Syracuse University beats M1 Drexel University 3-2 after comeback scare

The M1 Syracuse University Orange survived a determined comeback attempt by the M1 Drexel University Dragons on the way to a 3-2 win.

A goal by William Franzese put M1 Syracuse University up 3-1 in the third period, but M1 Drexel University pulled to within one on Christopher Rodrigue's tally 7:35 into the third period.

The Orange pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 38 penalty minutes.

The Dragons were unable to stop M1 Syracuse University from sending pucks towards the net, and the Orange eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

Others who scored for M1 Syracuse University included Patrick Corcoran and Mackenzie Connor, who each put in one. More assists for M1 Syracuse University came via John Ross LaPointe, who had two and Robert Amos, Thomas DiPasquale, Mitchell Lesueur, and Benjamin King, who each chipped in one.

M1 Drexel University put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow M1 Syracuse University to score on any of its four power plays. The Dragons kept the Orange's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jaime Ketchabaw made 34 saves on 36 shots. M1 Drexel University could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Dragons were helped by Matthew Williams, who had one goal. Williams scored 6:25 into the second period to make the score 2-1 M1 Syracuse University. Christopher Hagen picked up the assist. Other players who recorded assists for M1 Drexel University were John Quigley, Christopher Carroll, and Jim Mikalic, who contributed one each.

M1 Drexel University's Zachary Kantner stopped 33 shots out of the 36 that he faced. The Dragons registered one goal on six power play opportunities.
