Ansay's hat trick boosts M1 Colorado State University over M1 Syracuse University, 9-2

Austin Ansay netted a hat trick to lead the M1 Colorado State University Rams over the M1 Syracuse University Orange, 9-2.

Ansay's first goal came 2:39 into the second period. He then added goals at 15:00 into the second and at 16:20 into the third.

The game was close after the first frame, but M1 Colorado State University banged in five goals during the second period to put the victory out of reach for M1 Syracuse University.

The Rams forced the Orange's goalies to work in net, taking 38 shots and forcing 29 saves. Jaime Ketchabaw made 19 stops and Michael Cuozzo made 10. M1 Colorado State University put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow M1 Syracuse University to score on any of its five power plays. The Rams surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, M1 Colorado State University averages 4.3 goals per contest. The defensemen of the Rams were also effective in the Orange's zone, and came away with two goals.

M1 Colorado State University additionally got points from Eric Killam, who also had one goal and one assist and Brien Caseria, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for M1 Colorado State University included Chandler Yoder, Skylar Harding, Daniel Matrosic, and Zach Lish, who scored one goal each. In addition, M1 Colorado State University received assists from Nicholas ODonnell, who had six and William Neff, Chris Guidotti, Dawson Pascale, and Marcus Harbison, who contributed one each.

M1 Syracuse University's penalty kill was ineffective, and let in three goals to M1 Colorado State University's power play unit.

The Orange were led by Mackenzie Connor, who grabbed one goal. Connor scored 15:08 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Robert VanRaamsdonk picked up the assist. John Ross LaPointe also scored for M1 Syracuse University. More assists for M1 Syracuse University came via Thomas DiPasquale, Christian Van Hecke, and Nolan Metzler, who each chipped in one.

Harbison rejected 23 shots on goal for the Rams. M1 Colorado State University incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. M1 Syracuse University ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major.
