M1 Syracuse University survives M1 Colorado State University comeback, wins 3-2

The M1 Syracuse University Orange survived a determined comeback attempt by the M1 Colorado State University Rams on the way to a 3-2 win.

M1 Syracuse University made the score 3-0 on a goal by John Ross LaPointe at 5:08 in the third period, and M1 Colorado State University got as close as 3-2 when Payden Mielke scored 14:28 into the third period.

LaPointe was all over the ice for the Orange, as he had two goals in the win.

M1 Syracuse University forced the Rams goalie Michael Porter to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. The Orange struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 18 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays.

Robert Amos also scored for M1 Syracuse University. In addition, M1 Syracuse University received assists from Brendan Flanagan, who had two and Stephen Bressi, Mitchell Lesueur, and Nolan Metzler, who each chipped in one.

M1 Colorado State University stifled M1 Syracuse University's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Orange were unable to stop the Rams from sending pucks towards the net, and M1 Colorado State University eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

The Rams were helped by Nicholas ODonnell, who tallied one goal. ODonnell scored on the power play 8:04 into the third period to make the score 3-1 M1 Syracuse University. M1 Colorado State University had gotten the advantage when M1 Syracuse University's Thomas DiPasquale was sent off for elbowing. Eric Killam picked up the assist. Other players who recorded assists for M1 Colorado State University were William Neff and Luke Fiegl, who contributed one each.

Jaime Ketchabaw rejected 35 shots on goal for the Orange. M1 Syracuse University registered zero goals on four power play opportunities. The Rams' Porter stopped 31 shots out of the 34 that he faced. M1 Colorado State University incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
