M1 Stony Brook University outlasts M1 Syracuse University, 3-2

The M1 Stony Brook University Seawolves and the M1 Syracuse University Orange were evenly matched throughout their contest, but M1 Stony Brook University made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Tyler Underhill's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

The Seawolves were led by Underhill, who tallied one goal. Underhill scored on the power play 15:43 into the third period to make the score 3-2 M1 Stony Brook University. M1 Stony Brook University had taken the advantage when M1 Syracuse University's Ben Ferro got sent off for cross checking. JT Hall picked up the assist.

The Seawolves kept the Orange's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jaime Ketchabaw made 45 saves on 48 shots. M1 Stony Brook University took advantage of M1 Syracuse University's penalties, tallying two goals off of three power play opportunities.

M1 Stony Brook University also got points from Hall, who also had one goal and one assist. Matthew Crockett also scored for M1 Stony Brook University. Other players who recorded assists for M1 Stony Brook University were Andrew Cetola, who had two and Brian Boser and Michael Cartwright, who each chipped in one.

The Seawolves were unable to stop the Orange from sending pucks towards the net, and M1 Syracuse University eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

The Orange were helped by Mitchell Lesueur, who registered one goal. Lesueur scored 19:45 into the first period to make the score 2-1 M1 Syracuse University. Stephen Bressi provided the assist. M1 Syracuse University also got a goal from Thomas DiPasquale as well. In addition, M1 Syracuse University received assists from Robert VanRaamsdonk, who had one.

M1 Stony Brook University's Derek Willms stopped 34 shots out of the 36 that he faced. The Seawolves incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. M1 Syracuse University incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
