MNEPDL North 16U jumped out to a six-point advantage by the end of the first period and beat NE Wisconsin Hornets 16U, 9-1.

Mitch Machlitt had four goals to lead MNEPDL North 16U to victory. Machlitt's first goal came 6:32 into the first period. He then added goals at 13:04 into the first, at 1:41 into the third, and at 14:10 into the third.

MNEPDL North 16U forced NE Wisconsin Hornets 16U's goalies to work between the pipes, racking up 52 shots and forcing 43 saves. David Michaelson made 15 stops and Preston Long made 28. MNEPDL North 16U excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

MNEPDL North 16U also got points from Vann Hartigan, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Max Johnson, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Jack Hennemann also scored for MNEPDL North 16U. More assists for MNEPDL North 16U came via Cole Dutko, who had two and Travis Carroll, Garrett Daly, and Garrett Sandberg, who contributed one each.

NE Wisconsin Hornets 16U put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow MNEPDL North 16U to score on any of its three power plays.

MNEPDL North 16U took out Alex Brigino after he had made six saves and installed Reid Waszczenko in goal, where he finished with 12 saves and the win. MNEPDL North 16U incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. NE Wisconsin Hornets 16U incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors.
