MNEPDL 16U outlasts Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 16U, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, MNEPDL 16U escaped with a 4-2 victory over Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 16U.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Tom Leisen's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

MNEPDL 16U was led by Leisen, who had one goal. Leisen scored 1:43 into the third period to make the score 3-2 MNEPDL 16U. Dylan Hoen provided the assist.

MNEPDL 16U also had goals scored by Luke Mobley, Max Jennrich, and Ryan Stokes, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for MNEPDL 16U were Blake Brandt and Austin Carroll, who each chipped in one.

Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 16U put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow MNEPDL 16U to score on any of its four power plays.

Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 16U was helped by Ryan Thompson, who finished with one goal. Thompson scored on the power play 4:31 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 16U. Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 16U had gotten the advantage when MNEPDL 16U's Jarrett Lee was sent off for interference. Sam Prisbe picked up the assist. Nathan Mutschelknaus also scored for Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 16U.

MNEPDL 16U took out Ben Garrity after he had made five saves and installed Garrett Mackay in goal, where he finished with eight saves and the win. MNEPDL 16U incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Grant Boldt rejected 19 shots on goal for Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 16U. Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 16U incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
