Omaha AAA 14U vanquishes POE Varsity 14U in shootout, 5-4

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Omaha AAA 14U defeated POE Varsity 14U in a shootout 5-4.

The two teams needed six turns to complete the shootout. Omaha AAA 14U's other shootout goals were scored by Konner Lundeen and Andrew Kozol.

Omaha AAA 14U overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Omaha AAA 14U was down 4-3 after a goal by POE Varsity 14U's Cole McLeod at 12:35 in the third period. Omaha AAA 14U tied things up at 4-4 on a power play goal by Max Beller at 14:59 in the third period.

Omaha AAA 14U excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Omaha AAA 14U forced POE Varsity 14U goalie Triston Jacklin to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. Omaha AAA 14U surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Omaha AAA 14U averages 2.3 goals per game.

Omaha AAA 14U was helped by Lundeen, who racked up one goal and one assist. Lundeen scored 5:34 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Michael Kramer picked up the assist. Omaha AAA 14U additionally got points from Beller, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Omaha AAA 14U also had goals scored by Kozol and Evan Ross, who each put in one. In addition, Omaha AAA 14U received assists from Jacob Ferguson, who had two and Carter Hobbs and Thomas Jarman, who each chipped in one.

POE Varsity 14U was led by Wyatt Marlow, who registered two goals. Marlow scored the first of his two goals at 13:53 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Marlow's next tally made the score 2-1 POE Varsity 14U with 4:26 left in the first period. Matthew Koehle assisted on the tally. POE Varsity 14U also got a goal from Cody Copes-Mielson as well. More assists for POE Varsity 14U came via Krz Plummer and Logan Lorenz, who contributed one each.

Caleb Mayer rejected 18 shots on goal for Omaha AAA 14U. Omaha AAA 14U incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Triston Jacklin made 33 saves for POE Varsity 14U on 37 shots. POE Varsity 14U incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
