M1 Binghamton University uses shootout to best M1 Ithaca College, 3-2 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the M1 Binghamton University Bearcats defeated the M1 Ithaca College Bombers in a shootout 3-2 (2-1 SO).

The shootout lasted for six attempts between the teams. M1 Ithaca College's shootout goal was scored by Owen Smith. M1 Binghamton University also got a shootout goal from Peter Russo.

The 58 shots that the Bearcats put on net surpassed M1 Binghamton University's average of 0.3 shots per game this season.

The Bearcats were helped by Cody Klein, who tallied one goal. Klein scored 6:24 into the second period to make the score 1-0 M1 Binghamton University. Daniel Kowalsky picked up the assist. M1 Binghamton University also got a goal from Kyle Lawrence as well. Other players who recorded assists for M1 Binghamton University were Nick Catrone and Russo, who contributed one each.

The Bombers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. M1 Binghamton University was unable to stop M1 Ithaca College from sending pucks towards the net, and the Bombers eventually piled up 44 shots on goal.

M1 Ithaca College was led by Liam Barry, who registered one goal and one assist. Barry scored on the power play 14:37 into the second period to make the score 2-2. The Bombers had gotten the advantage when the Bearcats' Zachary Schappert was sent off for checking from behind. Zander Hoke assisted on the tally. Tim Foster also scored for M1 Ithaca College. In addition, M1 Ithaca College received assists from James Biggart and Ryan Krohto, who each chipped in one.

Harris Pittinsky made 42 saves for M1 Binghamton University on 44 shots. The Bearcats incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. M1 Ithaca College's Sam Attias stopped 55 shots out of the 57 that he faced. The Bombers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
