M1 Saint Bonaventure University hangs on, beats M1 Ithaca College 3-2

The M1 Saint Bonaventure University Bonnies beat the M1 Ithaca College Bombers, 3-2, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

Mike Johnson provided M1 Saint Bonaventure University with the game-winning tally when he scored 15:09 into the first period. The Bonnies had gained a power play chance when Bob Wassel was whistled for cross checking. Tyler Gokey assisted on the tally.

M1 Ithaca College's power play was ineffective against M1 Saint Bonaventure University's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Bonnies were sparked by Paul Murphy, who tallied one goal. Murphy scored 18:35 into the first period to make the score 3-1 M1 Saint Bonaventure University. John Rogers picked up the assist.

M1 Saint Bonaventure University forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The Bonnies had been averaging 23.0 minutes in penalties per game. M1 Saint Bonaventure University got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. The Bonnies' offense was clicking better than usual and put 32 shots on goal during the game, better than the 1.0 shot per game they average.
