M1 Cortland State University of NY outlasts M1 Ithaca College, 5-3

The M1 Cortland State University of NY Red Dragons gutted out a close 5-3 win against the M1 Ithaca College Bombers.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Andrew Bourdeau secured the win for M1 Cortland State University of NY with a goal in the third period.

The Red Dragons pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 39 penalty minutes.

M1 Cortland State University of NY was led by Bourdeau, who grabbed one goal. Bourdeau scored 5:20 into the third period to make the score 4-3 M1 Cortland State University of NY. Taylor Traenkle assisted on the tally.

The Red Dragons' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on 10 M1 Ithaca College power plays. M1 Cortland State University of NY forced M1 Ithaca College goalie Jonathan Lipshutz to work between the pipes, taking 49 shots.

M1 Cortland State University of NY additionally got points from Daniel Nelson, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. M1 Cortland State University of NY also had goals scored by Tate Cretti, Michael Gioia, and Ryan Cornelison, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for M1 Cortland State University of NY were Thomas Tirelli, who had two and Kyle Lancto and Michael Whelan, who contributed one each.

In addition, M1 Ithaca College received assists from Bob Wassel, Ryan Krohto, and Nick Mecca, who each chipped in one.

Elliott Messmer made 26 saves for the Red Dragons on 29 shots. M1 Ithaca College's Lipshutz stopped 44 shots out of the 49 that he faced. The Bombers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Tim Foster was ejected from the game.
