Brantford boosted by Marshall's play in net, beats Whitby 2-1

Anthony Marshall stood on his head and made 38 saves to lead the Brantford Blast to a 2-1 victory over the Whitby Dunlops.

Brantford was led by Derek Medeiros, who had one goal. Medeiros scored 18:29 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Brantford. Dustin Alcock picked up the assist.

The Blast stifled Whitby's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Brantford was held below its usual level of production. The Blast average 4.5 goals per game. Brantford forced the Dunlops goalie Jason Guy to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Brantford also got a goal from Derek Foam as well. Other players who recorded assists for Brantford were Cameron Sault and Mike Charbonneau, who contributed one each.

Whitby managed to stay out of the box for the most part, registering one minor for 22 minutes in penalty time. Even so, the Dunlops surpassed their low season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. Whitby could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Dunlops put an average of 5.5 pucks into the net per game. Whitby's offense rang up 39 shots on the Blast's net.

The Dunlops were led by Jason Dale, who scored the team's only goal. Dale scored 6:33 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Brett McConnachie provided the assist.

Brantford incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Whitby's Guy stopped 31 shots out of the 33 that he faced. The Dunlops registered zero goals on three power play opportunities.
