Brantford completes comeback, beats Hamilton, 6-5Brantford Civic Centre Fri, Feb 05, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
Undaunted by a three-goal deficit, the Brantford Blast battled back to claim a 6-5 victory over the Hamilton Steelhawks. Brantford never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Blast was down 3-0 after a goal by Hamilton's Mitch McCrank at 11:48 in the second period. Brantford knotted things up at 4-4 on a power play goal by Jeff Caister at 11:39 in the third period. The Blast netted the game winner at 18:50 in the third period on a goal by Caister. The defensemen of Brantford were also effective in the Steelhawks' zone, and came away with four goals. The Blast were helped by Dustin Alcock, who had one goal and one assist. Alcock scored 19:22 into the third period to make the score 6-4 Brantford. Derek Foam picked up the assist. Brantford additionally got points from Cameron Sault, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, Caister, who also registered one goal and one assist, Mike Burgoyne, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Foam, who also registered one goal and one assist. Jacob Ledyard also scored for Brantford. More assists for Brantford came via Chris Rebernik, who had one and Mark Taylor and Brandon Dietrich, who contributed two each. Brantford was unable to stop Hamilton from sending pucks towards the net, and the Steelhawks eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. Hamilton also got points from Gary Clarke, who also grabbed one goal and three assists and Steve Guzzo, who also had one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Hamilton were Scott Peckford and Cody Wilson, who each chipped in one. Brett Leggat recorded 29 saves for the Blast. Brantford incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Ben Goss made 19 saves for Hamilton on 24 shots. The Steelhawks incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors and had no power play opportunities.
