Stoney Creek beats Dundas 12-3 as Smith gets hat trick

A hat trick by Matt Smith was the highlight in Generals' 12-3 win against the Dundas Real McCoys.

Smith's first goal came 8:48 into the second period. He then added goals at 11:34 into the second and at 5:18 into the third.

The Stoney Creek Generals' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Dundas power plays. Stoney Creek forced Dundas goalie Mike Mole to work between the pipes, taking 53 shots. The Generals found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Stoney Creek has scored at the pace of 7.0 goals per game during the current campaign. The Generals' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Stoney Creek additionally got points from Dylan Quaile, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Ryan Healy, who also had one goal and two assists, Mike Ruberto, who also registered one goal and one assist, Jarrett Konkle, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Nathan Pageau, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Tyler Donati, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Andrew Radjenovic, who also had one goal and one assist, and Jordan Morrison, who also registered one goal and two assists. Justin Sawyer also scored for Stoney Creek. Other players who recorded assists for Stoney Creek were Justin Donati, who had two and Sean Blanchard, Roger Sherwood, and Myles Falasca, who each chipped in one.

The Real McCoys were helped by Chris Hulit, who finished with one goal. Hulit scored 3:51 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Dundas. Matthew Bragg picked up the assist. Dundas also had goals scored by Curtis Campbell and Dana Tenenbaum, who scored one goal each. In addition, Dundas received assists from Jake Guindon, who had two and Simon Mangos, Shawn Snider, and Brent Vandenberg, who contributed one each.

Ryan Demelo made 27 saves for Stoney Creek on 30 shots. The Generals incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors and had no power play opportunities. Mole rejected 41 shots on goal for Dundas.
