Thorold downs Dundas in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Thorold Athletics' Brad Jackson scored 2:02 into overtime to beat the Dundas Real McCoys, 5-4 (OT).

Jackson had two goals and one assist to lead Thorold. Jackson scored the first of his two goals at 12:37 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Derek Nichols picked up the assist. Jackson's next tally made the score 5-4 Thorold with 17:58 left in overtime. Joe Christiano provided the assist.

The Athletics excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Dundas was unable to stop Thorold from sending pucks towards the net, and the Athletics eventually piled up 59 shots on goal.

Thorold additionally got points from Nichols, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Thorold included Nick Lotempio and John Falzoi, who scored one goal each. More assists for Thorold came via Reid Lesswing, Tommy Barcz, JJ Martin, Jay Hill, and Tyler Turcotte, who each chipped in one.

The Real McCoys' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Thorold power plays. Dundas' offense rang up 51 shots on Thorold's net.

The Real McCoys were led by Brad Bonello, who racked up one goal and one assist. Bonello scored 10:52 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Dundas. Trevor Atkinson assisted on the tally. Dundas also got points from Shawn Snider, who also had one goal and one assist. Dundas also had goals scored by Cam Watson and Chris Hulit, who each put in one. In addition, Dundas received assists from Jake Laplante, Brent Vandenberg, and Matthew Bragg, who contributed one each.

Frank Novello recorded 47 saves for the Athletics. Thorold incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Dundas' Mike Mole stopped 54 shots out of the 59 that he faced. The Real McCoys incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
