Guy stymies Brantford, Whitby wins 4-1

Jason Guy stood on his head and made 26 saves to lead the Whitby Dunlops to a 4-1 victory over the Brantford Blast.

Whitby was led by Matthew Baxter, who tallied one goal. Baxter scored on the power play 6:48 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Whitby. The Dunlops earned a power play opportunity when Merrit Crumback was put in the box for hooking. Chris Eade picked up the assist.

Whitby put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Brantford to score on any of its three power plays. The Dunlops' offense rang up 37 shots on the Blast's net.

Whitby also got points from Scott Freeman, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Whitby also had goals scored by Peter MacKellar and Darren Doherty, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Whitby were Corey Tamblyn, Adam Maccarone, Kyle Ventura, Jason Dale, Chris Purves, and Shane Terry, who contributed one each.

Brantford could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Blast average 4.6 goals per game.

Brantford was led by Derek Medeiros, who scored the team's only goal. Medeiros scored 10:46 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Mark Taylor provided the assist.

Whitby incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Anthony Marshall recorded 33 saves for the Blast. Brantford incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
