Nichols leads Thorold over Dundas, 6-3

Derek Nichols was all over the ice for the Thorold Athletics, as he tallied one goal and three assists in Thorold's 6-3 win over the Dundas Real McCoys.

Nichols beat Mike Mole with a shot 9:06 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Thorold. Ben MacAskill picked up the assist. Nichols dished an assist on Chris Risi's goal that made the score 1-0 Thorold at 2:29 into the second period. He then added assists on MacAskill's goal at 17:31 into the second and on Risi's goal at 14:23 into the third.

The Athletics kept Dundas' goalie busy throughout the game, and Mole made 36 saves on 42 shots.

Thorold additionally got points from Risi, who also grabbed two goals and one assist and MacAskill, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Thorold also had goals scored by JJ Martin and Mike Kobylansky, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Thorold were John Falzoi, who had two and Steven Dol and Tory McLean, who contributed one each.

Thorold was unable to stop the Real McCoys from sending pucks towards the net, and Dundas eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

The Real McCoys were helped by Cam Watson, who had two goals and one assist. Watson scored the first of his two goals at 12:14 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Thorold. Beni Berisha assisted on the tally. Watson's next tally made the score 6-3 Thorold with 3:43 left in the third period. Berisha picked up the assist. Dundas also got points from Shawn Snider, who also tallied one goal and two assists.

The Athletics' Frank Novello stopped 37 shots out of the 40 that he faced. Thorold incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Dundas incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
