Stoney Creek blows out Thorold, 7-2

The Stoney Creek Generals were firing on all cylinders against the Thorold Athletics, and when the final buzzer sounded Generals emerged with a 7-2 win.

Ryan O Marra had one goal and two assists to lead Stoney Creek. O Marra scored 9:15 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Stoney Creek. Dylan Quaile assisted on the tally.

The Generals forced Athletics' netminders to work all game long, taking 51 shots and forcing 44 saves. Frank Novello made 34 stops and Matt Sagrott made 10. Stoney Creek's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Thorold power plays.

Stoney Creek also got points from Mike Ruberto, who also tallied two goals and one assist and Jarrett Konkle, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Stoney Creek also got a goal from Ryan Healy as well. More assists for Stoney Creek came via Tyler Donati, who had one, Andrew Radjenovic, who had three, and Nathan Pageau and Jeff Leaist, who contributed two each.

Thorold did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Athletics average 4.6 goals per game.

Thorold was helped by Tanner Hildebrandt, who had one goal. Hildebrandt scored 9:18 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Fraser Smith picked up the assist. Thorold additionally got points from Smith, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Thorold received assists from Tommy Barcz, Blake Kerling, and Tory McLean, who each chipped in one.

The Generals' Daniel Svedin stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Stoney Creek totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 2-for-5 on the power play. The Generals ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Justin Sawyer was ejected from the game. The Athletics ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For Thorold, Mike Kobylansky was ejected from the game.
