Whitby downs Brantford in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

The Whitby Dunlops' Scott Freeman scored 3:56 into overtime to beat the Brantford Blast, 2-1 (OT).

Brantford was stymied by Whitby's netminder Anthony Kimlin, who stopped 49 shots during the victory. Kimlin managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.87 prior to the game.

The Dunlops were led by Freeman, who registered one goal and one assist.

Whitby excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Dunlops could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Whitby averages 5.7 goals per game. The Dunlops kept the Blast's goalie busy throughout the game, and Brett Leggat made 34 saves on 36 shots.

Will Jones also scored for Whitby. In addition, Whitby received assists from Patrick Jobb, who had two.

Brantford was held below its usual level of production. The Blast put an average of 4.6 pucks into the net per game. Brantford's offense rang up 50 shots on Whitby's net.

The Blast were led by Joel Prpic, who scored the team's only goal. Prpic scored 15:28 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Jeff Caister provided the assist.

The Dunlops totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Whitby ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Derek Gregorak was ejected from the game. Brantford ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. For the Blast, Shayne Salmon was ejected from the game.
