Stoney Creek beats Brantford 9-6 as Ruberto gets hat trick

A hat trick by Mike Ruberto was the highlight in Generals' 9-6 win against the Brantford Blast.

Ruberto got on the scoresheet 49 seconds into the second period. He then added goals at 2:02 into the third and at 18:57 into the third.

The Stoney Creek Generals pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 18 penalty minutes.

Stoney Creek forced Brantford goalie Anthony Marshall to work between the pipes, taking 46 shots.

Stoney Creek additionally got points from Jarrett Konkle, who also registered one goal and one assist, Nathan Pageau, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Andrew Radjenovic, who also had one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, Justin Donati, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Myles Falasca, who also registered one goal and one assist. Roger Sherwood also scored for Stoney Creek. In addition, Stoney Creek received assists from Tyler Donati, who had two and Jordan Gignac, Kyle Frieday, and Justin Sawyer, who each chipped in one.

The Blast were helped by Chris Rebernik, who racked up two goals. Rebernik scored the first of his two goals at 1:28 into the third period to make the score 6-4 Stoney Creek. Jeff Caister provided the assist. Rebernik's next tally made the score 7-5 Stoney Creek with 7:55 left in the third period. Brantford had gotten the advantage when the Generals' Donati was sent off for tripping. Jamie Wright assisted on the tally. Brantford also got points from Dustin Alcock, who also had one goal and two assists, Wright, who also finished with one goal and two assists, and Brandon Dietrich, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Brantford also got a goal from Derek Medeiros as well. More assists for Brantford came via Cameron Sault, who had two.

Stoney Creek's starting goalie, Daniel Svedin, made 19 saves and finished with the win before he was taken out in favor of Alex Wyse, who stopped three shots. The Generals registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. The Blast's Marshall stopped 37 shots out of the 45 that he faced. Brantford incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
