Radjenovic nets hat trick, leads Stoney Creek to 12-1 win over Hamilton

Gateway Ice Centre    Sat, Nov 21, 2015

The Hamilton Steelhawks could not stop the Stoney Creek Generals' Andrew Radjenovic, who tallied a hat trick in a 12-1 win.

Radjenovic's first goal came 5:52 into the first period. He then added goals at 17:34 into the first and at 8:01 into the third.

Stoney Creek scored early and often, and held a 5-0 advantage after the first 20 minutes of play.

The Generals' Daniel Svedin was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 39 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Svedin will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.67.

Stoney Creek forced Hamilton's netminders to work between the pipes, launching 47 shots and forcing 35 saves. Ben Goss made 18 stops and Tim Rogers made 17. The Generals stifled the Steelhawks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Stoney Creek's goal total was higher than its season average. The Generals have scored at the pace of 7.0 goals per game during the current campaign.

Stoney Creek also got points from Jordan Gignac, who also grabbed two goals and one assist, Mike Ruberto, who also registered one goal and two assists, Nathan Pageau, who also tallied two goals and one assist, Justin Sawyer, who also had one goal and one assist, and Justin Donati, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Stoney Creek also had goals scored by Kyle Frieday and Tyler Donati, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Stoney Creek were Jeff Leaist, who had three, Dylan Quaile, Sean Blanchard, and Matt Ruberto, who each chipped in one, and Nikola Bibic, Ryan Healy, Jarrett Konkle, and Marcus Ruberto, who contributed two each.

Hamilton managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Steelhawks finished below its season average of 12.0 penalty minutes per game. Stoney Creek was unable to stop Hamilton from sending pucks towards the net, and the Steelhawks eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

Hamilton was led by Kyle McQuade, who scored the team's only goal. McQuade scored 3:06 into the third period to make the score 9-1 Stoney Creek. Cody Wilson assisted on the tally.

The Generals incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Steelhawks registered zero goals on four power play opportunities.
